PostSubject: "Humanity" ?   31st May 2010, 8:39 pm

Humanity? i need to look that word up in the dictionary..i forgot what it means..
i'm in shock,i'm devastated, lost my hope this morning when i saw the news..i do not believe in "humanity" any more..

a convoy of ships loaded with food and medications for Gaza by a non-governmental organization in Turkey-the Gaza Freedom Flotilla- was attacked by the Israeli soldiers, and lots of(some say 16) activists from many nationalities (Greece,Germany,Sweden as far as i can remember) were killed and some of them are wounded..

and they are guilty of being "humanists" Neutral
wow,i can't find any goddamn words right now..who would've guessed that the posters of that organization which i see everyday on streets would be printed with blood? i so wanted to be in that convoy, among those people;if i had the chance,i wouldn't hesitate just one second, the other day i was telling it to Bet, and now i can't believe what's happening..just think about it:those people are gone, just because they wanted to give a helping hand to those children, those poor people Crying or Very sad

God bless the souls of my beautiful people from all around the world who died there Crying or Very sad

i wonder how those responsible fucking Israeli warheads wash the blood off their hands..i really wonder.

PostSubject: Re: "Humanity" ?   31st May 2010, 8:42 pm

Quote :
I woke up this morning in Amman, Jordan, to the alarming news that things had turned bloody in the Mediterranean. The latest reports are indicating that Israeli forces have killed some 16 humanitarian activists and injured many dozens more on board of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, a humanitarian convoy of ships attempting to deliver aid to the besieged Gaza Strip.

Background:

Gaza has been under a devastating and unlawful blockade since Hamas won parliamentary elections in 2006, and the blockade was further tightened when Hamas took control of the crowded strip after a military confrontation with political rival Fatah. The blockade persisted despite Hamas's strict observance, and repeated Israeli-initiated breaks, of a ceasefire agreement that mandated an easing of the blockade.

The blockade caused "dire shortages of food, water, cooking gas, fuel and access to medical care," leading to a very serious humanitarian crisis, including hundreds of civilian deaths due to lack of access to adequate medical care. Human Rights Watch Executive Director Kenneth Roth said the blockade had led to a "catastrophe" in Gaza, while former U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson, commenting on the effects of the blockade on Gaza, said "their whole civilization has been destroyed, I'm not exaggerating." A headline in the UK's Times Online indicated that some Gaza families had literally been reduced to eating grass.

It is against this backdrop that the Freedom Flotilla has joined several previous convoys, some successful and others not, which sought to break the siege on Gaza by delivering humanitarian aid.

This Morning's Events:

It's not readily clear what exactly transpired on the ships after Israeli forces (initiating the confrontation) stormed them in international waters, but Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon's preposterous assertion that the humanitarian activists were connected to Al-Qaeda has indicated from the beginning that Israel has no intention whatsoever to be serious in explaining its actions. But who can blame them for reaching for the absurd? To appreciate how tough it is to explain their actions, all one has to do is imagine the opposite scenario: What if it were Hamas militants that attacked humanitarian ships in international waters on its way to deliver humanitarian aid to Israel? Is there anything Hamas could possibly say to make its actions seem defensible?

Attempting to tow a slightly less absurd line of argument was Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev, who told the BBC that the aid convoy was to blame for the violence, because "unfortunately this group were [sic] dead-set on confrontation." Except, of course, the aid convoy was not going to Israel, but to Gaza (you know, where we're told Israel's occupation ended years ago). So, unless Regev wants to suggest that Israel was acting to protect Gazans from a confrontation with the aid convoy, he should come to terms with the obvious fact that it is Israel's unlawful siege on someone else's land which is "dead-set on confrontation" with a world that has lost patience for a policy of mass devastation and economic strangulation of an entire people.

Global Outrage & Future Implications:

The costs of Israel's blunder were immediate: Turkey withdrew its Ambassador to Israel, and joined Greece in cancelling joint military exercises with it; while several EU countries summoned their Israeli Ambassadors to protest Israel's conduct. Hezbollah's first reaction, after an emboldened speech by its leader several days ago, was to state that it considers all Lebanese citizens among the abducted activists to be "hostages," seemingly justifying potential retaliatory actions by Hezbollah. A meeting between Obama and Netanyahu has been cancelled, and protests against Israel's atrocity have been organized throughout the United States and across the world. And if this morning's actions lead Turkey to join the Hezbollah-Syria-Iran alliance, the strategic costs to Israel may be flat out disastrous.

To reiterate, Israel is confronting a world that is getting increasingly fed up with its occupation, its siege of Gaza, its illegal settlements and home demolitions; and it faces a choice: it can either begin to behave within minimum standards of decency and legality towards a real end to the occupation and a peace agreement with the region, or it can become even more belligerent and violent, paving its way towards greater global isolation. Its arrogance of power seems to have taken it down the latter path, and it may be in need of friends to save it from its own reckless behavior.

i was watching one of our reporters from port of Ashdod,Israel where the ship can be seen..as he was talking, lots of crazy Israeli people were singing and "celebrating" the atrocity..they were waving Israel flags, trying to block the broadcast so they had to disconnect..

they are "celebrating"..wow..just like they did when they were in war with Hamas(!)
i remember families went up to a hill where Gaza could be seen, they were with their children, having picnic with ther binoculars watching the atrocities and "celebrating"! even little Israeli children Neutral

a large group of Israeli people also protested Turkey in front of Turkish consulate building..for what?

Shocked

That's just plain horrible, really. This fucking war is bringing so many deaths, chaos and atrocities of any kind... and what is the reason? Why, after so many centuries being on this freakin' planet we could NEVER learn that violence is NOT the solution to problems? So many innocent lives were destroyed because of this madness... and here we are, once again, with another shocking atrocity.
Now, those poor persons lost their lives, and they're only guilt was their will to help people... will there ever be an end to all of this shit?

By the way, I just HATE how they use (or try to use) Al-Qaeda as an excuse to justify... almost ANYTHING. Yeah, Al-Qaeda did horrible things and all, but... merciless violence is on both sides. Seems they never remember this.

And... gosh, people celebrating other's people deaths?

That sums it up pretty well, I think...
I'm sorry to say that I lost my faith in humanity long ago... and this just makes me think that I won't gain it again in a long time. Sad

When I got back home and watched the news yesterday, I exactly realized what happened in reality. Couldn't help my tears then felt just like a fool.

This got me into thinking that I don't feel sorry about the 'martyrs' died on the ship, but sorry for the people who's with Israeli Government and the absolutely innocent, mentally grown up Israeli people.

I don't know if it's true or not but some claim that the ship was full of weapons in fact. The human side of me says it's impossible; I've just seen a woman with her baby in her arms that got back to Turkey from that flotilla, she says that she took her baby with her just because to show everyone that even that little's brave and willing for humanity. A ship full of weapons with a baby on it? No way...

Protesters storm Israeli consulates in Copenhagen, Oslo, İstanbul, Los Angeles, Boston, London, Dublin... But it's actually nothing. Remember the hatred towards Irish people after Brimingham pub bombings or for a nearer example; muslim people after 9/11. It's dead wrong to me, I never wanna do the same but those zionists (not Jews) should be stopped. And that'll happen if our dickheaded governments do somethings positive instead of bitching about things and barking to each other.

As I write this, the tv's are waiting for Obama's call to Erdoğan that'll happen in ten minutes, same old story, same old. Let's see what's gonna happen new; if there's anything like that in long term politic plans. However, Erdoğan has just separated Israeli Government and Israeli people into two different categories while talking about the issue, I think that's a good sign.

And as I usually do, I was listening to the opposite thoughts of youtube vbloggers, I came across that Canadian guy saying he's with Israel and describing the activist people on the ship as "Crazy. 700 pot smoking, dirty haired hippies, strumming the acoustic guitars singing Kumbaya my Lord on their way to help the poor Palestinians. Filthy. John Lennon, Yoko Ono types of orgies." That was in the description of the video, I didn't watch it and I won't I think. But if you like, it's down below.

And I also came across to Israeli people's celebrate after the attack. I didn't wanna watch it either:

Well, the ship is on its way at the moment. The activists didn't wanna come back, and some are under arrest of Israel. No one can guess what is gonna happen but please God gave those zionists an open mind. God save innocent Israeli people from their government. Nothing more to say.

I really agree on these parts...

I'll try to take a look at the video, even if the description of that Canadian guy already says enough... and, unfortunately, it's nothing like what I would have liked to hear Neutral

Ok, I'm about to start a freakin' argument with a guy from Israel right now. Reason of it all?
This video:

...They talked about it on TV today. It was sent to Israeli's government... and they SENT IT BACK TO PRESS. They probably thought it was funny.
The fucking GOVERNMENT.
The video is a parody version of We Are The World, it's called We Con The World and it depicts the people on the flotilla as fake peaceful travellers, who wave their knives and want to bring death. I didn't want to watch that, but I read the lyrics and it was just shocking to see how people can mock the victims of a war so easily.
People of the government, after realising how stupid it was to send the video around, sent few lines to say that they were sorry for sending that video to the press.

...I searched for the video on Youtube, and found hundreds of people having FUN at the video and celebrating the death of the people on the flotilla. I flagged the video for 'disgusting contents' (considering that the majority of admins are usually assholes, I didn't know if "incitement to hatred and violence" could have been taken in consideration, so I went for a more generic thing). Then, I posted a comment that went along the lines of 'cool, you're partying and having fun 'cos other people was killed. Feel proud of yourselves. BEASTS."
...And got the answer of this brainwashed idiot who said that 'they weren't killed, they tried to killed and were stopped before being able of doing that'.

I think that if I had him in front of me I would have smashed the keyboard on his head.

It's official: the word 'humanity' must be deleted from dictionaries, 'cos it has no meaning anymore.

P.S.: sorry girls, I don't want to rub the salt in the wound with even more demonstrations of how humanity sucks... but I couldn't help myself...

Doc,i'm crying right now, after i watched the news..

one of the cameramen managed to record what happened after the attack and hide it..i wish i didn't watch it Sad

the clip showed one of the benevolents with a list of people to be shot, prepared by the Israelis..the guy found the list and showed it to the camera.it was truly shocking.there was a priest and a Palestinian sheikh on the list (of course many more people). they couldn't shoot the sheikh, but they shot a Turkish guy looking like him instead..
a priest and a sheikh! what the fuck?

one of the Turkish journalists was shot because he was trying to do his job!

they were literally hunting the people on the ship with laser guns from the helicopters..think about it: they have a list of people to be shot, they aim at those people and bang! that's it! done!

Israeli media and all the zionists have been lying from the start..they said that those people had guns with them-that they were fake activists-,they were the ones who attacked the soldiers with knives and sticks, but the clip shows it all and the people know what happened there. can't believe it! the mission was almost complete even when the soldiers were in the helicopters!

the clip also showed the doctors trying to cure the wounded people as soon as possible, but most of them were shot either from the head or from the heart, they were dead Sad
everyone was in shock!
i was in shock!

i can't call it "cruelty", can't call it "brutality"..it's more than that!

they have that mentality which i'll never understand, Doc! they love seeing those people suffering..so,don't try to argue with any of them, they can't understand..really,i tried. it's pointless..

You're totally right and... shit, I feel really bad for you and for this whole situation... there's a lot of freaking madness going around and nothing is done to stop this. I read on another article that Israel is STILL planning to do the same to any other activist ship that tries to reach Gaza. They already did a massacre and they still want more blood.
Many innocent persons were killed due to this so-called 'defense' and they always got any kind of excuse to that.
Farmers killed while loading their truck with tomatoes, 'cos they were 'mistaken for terrorists loading the truck with bombs' ('cos tomatoes are sooooo similar to bombs, huh?), citizens killed when their only guilt was 'being in the streets while they were bombing' and so on... there's always an excuse.

The thing I probably hate the most is that horrible feeling of being totally unable to do anything useful in this. And, unfortunately, you're totally right on the fact that arguing with those guys is totally useless. They're so convinced that they are on the right side that any attempt to open up their minds is seen as 'supporting terrorism'.

Well, here's the latest news from a Turkish journalist that have been there in the damn ship:

He talked in a tv programe last night, said when the Israeli soldiers show up thereabouts, people on the ship started to cut out iron sticks from the ship -I don't know exactly which part- and the journalist states that he said don't do it, they're not gonna attack us if we do not. Then some man hit a soldier taking his gun, and shot two soldiers that have died first.

Another Turkish participant states that some of the soldiers were extremely scared and one of them just started crying, then he cheered the young soldier up and hugged him till the end of the clash. When the soldiers were out to interrogate them in the night, they asked the man if he really attacked the soldiers or not, after confronting the soldier and the man mentioned the man was free because the soldier said that the man has helped him out.

What a Face

i don't know if anything matters any more about this subject,i feel so numb,i'm trying not to think about many issues for some time..

but 2 days ago i listened to the chief mate who was interrogated for 6.5 hours after they landed(while the others were interrogated for about 10 mins he said) and he said that when the soldiers arrived he also saw some people trying to cut some iron sticks(very thin sticks he added)..he saw them and told them not to do that and put the already prepared ones to the radio room and they did..he also added that this was a normal reaction cause the people were scared to death, didn't know what to do and the soldiers were fully armed..most of the participants were on the ship with their families and in order to protect them, they did attack,at least prepared to attack them..

most importantly, one participant said that, they could have killed most of the soldiers or let them die if they wanted..but like the guy who helped those soldiers taken captive, the doctors on the ship didn't let any of them suffer..

Israeli media is still manipulating people, like they have just streamed a 20 sec clip of the 6 hour interrogation with the chief mate and didn't let anyone record what happened on the ship(killed one of them while trying to do so)..this is what irritates me most..

well, actually i listened and read many people's memories for the last two weeks but don't want to talk and think about them much..i don't want to believe what has happened there, don't want to lose all my hope in humanity..

oh and i don't know if you know about this Korean activicst who managed to record something and hide the memory card in her underwear:

Quote :
Iara Lee, a Korean Brazilian film producer, director and activist based in New York has released new footage from the aid Flotilla which was raided by the Israeli Defense Forces and led to the death of nine Turkish activists.

The six ship Flotilla which was heading to the Gaza strip to break the Israeli blockade to the area was boarded on International waters by the IDF off helicopters.

Israel had received wide spread condemnation for the attack but had defended themselves by criticizing the Flotilla and the activists onboard.

Israeli Prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu had said “This wasn’t the ‘love boat,’ this was a flotilla of terror supporters.”

Israel had also backed their accusations with video footage from helicopters and from other warships which surrounded the Mavi Marmara.

In the video footage released by pro-Israelis, the fully armed commandos which boarded the Mavi Marmara were seen being beaten by the activists with what seemed to be rods but no use of knifes or guns were used on the soldiers as the Israeli officials had first alleged.

The new footage however sees one activist being resuscitated and blood on the walls from the wounded.

The footage which is in total one hour long had been smuggled out of Israel with Iara Lee, allegedly hiding the memory card in her underwear.

Many of the footage and images taken by several journalists and activists were confiscated by the Israeli authorities and have still not been given back.

I took part in the conversation on this topic on the waspnation a while ago, so I wonder if it makes any sense to repeat myself ... Being a casualty of war myself, I find it extremely difficult to talk about wars, dying, killing the innocent people ... I think I'll stick to more cheerful topics in order to keep my mental stability.
